Although building standards in this country are now much improved in terms of ensuring that new buildings have modest 'carbon footprints', there are other standards that can be applied that are even more responsible.
The 'Passivhaus' standard, a voluntary code for producing buildings of high energy efficiency, is currently the most widely known and used. |
Primarily used in house building it is also now applied to offices, schools, etc. We work closely with Passivhaus experts - designers, assessors and builders.
Recently we've been involved in the design of our first certified Passivhaus Plus dwelling (that produces as much energy as its occupants consume). Achieving a Passivhaus standard requires rigorous attention to design and detailing, and should be introduced at the inception of a project. |
