S2 design ltd was founded in 2008 by Jeremy Dain.
With experience including commercial and retail, community, health and education, new build and conversion and conservation, S2 offers a broad range of design skills. Working in close conjunction with building scientists and environmentally-conscious builders, we have particular expertise in designing low-impact buildings, with an emphasis on new housing - contemporary, contextual and sustainable. Jeremy is a registered* architect and has qualifications in both architecture and engineering and has worked in architectural practice since the 1970's. He set up S2 after more than twenty five years as a director of Inscape Architects, an award-winning practice based in the heart of Bristol.
He has taught at university - specialising in structures and environmental science - and been involved in software development and research on low-energy buildings and the integration of micro-generation systems.
Jointly running a design-build company in parallel with architectural practice gave him an understanding of the complexities of construction and a strong respect for the skills of the whole design and contracting team.
